Born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, Velásquez, the fifth of six kids, was the female offspring of Venezuelan oldsters. Her father is somebody and her mother a member of the autochthonic Wayuu folks. Her oldsters were each teachers; her father additionally worked for United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization and as a result, she spent a number of her childhood in Mexico and France. She attended San Vicente First State Paul highschool, graduating in 1987. In 1989, she participated within the Miss South American nation pageant, wherever she took second place (2nd finalist). when three years of faculty studies, Velásquez left for metropolis, Italy, in pursuit of a modelling career.
